MedQuarter (MedQ) Regional Medical District | March 8th, 2018

Cedar Rapids, IA – Gastroenterologists, P.C., which consists of four physicians, two nurse practitioners and 25 employees, joined UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital on March 1. Gastroenterologists has been an independent practice for four decades and chose to affiliate with St. Luke’s Hospital. This Clinic specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the liver and digestive tract.

The name of this practice has been changed to UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Gastroenterology. St. Luke’s Gastroenterology will retain its current phone number and office location at 931 8th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, SE.  Starting May 1, providers at this clinic will practice exclusively at St. Luke’s Hospital and Surgery Center Cedar Rapids and no longer provide inpatient care or perform outpatient endoscopy at Mercy Medical Center.

“We are excited to exclusively partner with St. Luke’s and Surgery Center Cedar Rapids, which will allow us to concentrate our efforts to provide patients with the best in coordinated care,” says Dr. Dean Abramson, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Gastroenterology.  “We are pleased with this partnership and believe that with only four physicians remaining in the group, providing round-the-care at both hospitals is no longer feasible or efficient.”

“This partnership will enhance our comprehensive, coordinated, low cost, high quality care,” says Ted Townsend, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s President and CEO. “We believe this care will further allow us to build upon our vision of delivering best outcome for every patient every time.”
