Making Big Moves in the MedQ

MedQuarter (MedQ) Regional Medical District | September 27th, 2019

Dr Eric and Amanda GriggsDrs. Eric and Amanda Griggs had dreamed of being part of something bigger. They wanted to provide great chiropractic care, engage with local businesses and support their local community.

They found it in the MedQuarter.

The two doctors made the move from Colby, Kansas, to Cedar Rapids in January 2019 and purchased Chiropractic Health Care Associates from Dr. Dave Swope and Dr. Dave Johnson. As the new owners of the practice, Drs. Griggs are excited to work alongside Dr. Swope and Dr. Johnson in its MedQuarter location.

Dr. Eric is originally from Marion. Coming back to Iowa was an easy choice for the couple so their three sons could be near their grandparents and other extended family — some of whom also work within the MedQ.

Much More Than Expected

“We knew the MedQ was a district with hospitals and medical offices, but once we did some research, we realized it was much more,” said Dr. Amanda.

Patient care is a top priority in their practice, and they found that everything about the MedQ supports that.

“We want our patients to know how much we care about them,” the doctors said, adding that choosing “a location that is easy for patients to access, has a healthy environment and is well-maintained” is one way to demonstrate that.

The couple also appreciates the warm welcome they personally received in the MedQ, including a visit from the district’s Executive Director Phil Wasta, and have found the district to be responsive to any concerns they had around their business.

But “the best part is knowing our patients will be well taken care of before they even reach our office. They will have amenities at their fingertips.”

The two doctors themselves have enjoyed many of the delicious foods at nearby restaurants in the district and have used the other medical facilities that are conveniently close to their work.

“We were excited to be in this area, and now that we have had some time to experience it, we feel like we are home,” Dr. Amanda said.

The MedQuarter is keeping up-to-date on information and resources regarding the pandemic.
