CEDAR RAPIDS – The MedQuarter Regional Medical District is taking the first step toward implementing their beautification master plan by adding green space, or a pocket park, on a newly acquired property located on the corner of 8th Street and 3rd Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to incorporate additional beautification efforts into the MedQuarter,” said Phil Wasta, Executive Director, MedQuarter Regional Medical District. “We look forward to creating a community space that residents, employees and all can experience and enjoy.”
The new park will be similar to the District’s current green space on 4th Avenue SE. The park is designed with a rolling open grass area surrounded by trees and plantings that will provide color and texture year-round. All plantings were selected to maximize the park’s visual appeal and provide beauty in every season. Aside from providing a space for area employees and visitors to relax, MedQuarter leadership plans to use the space for programming and events in the future. The new park will be ready for the public this Summer.
