The Hall-Perrine Cancer Center invites patients undergoing cancer treatment, as well as past patients, to share in a celebration of survivorship from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wed., June 10. The drive-through event takes place in the parking lot of Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, 701 10th St. SE, on the Mercy Medical Center campus.
With safety measures in place to guard against the spread of COVID-19, the cancer center is welcoming patients to drive through colorful balloon columns that will be erected in the parking lot entrance. Survivors will then be guided to the circle drive, where they will receive an individual bag of Almost Famous Popcorn, a facemask and a seed ribbon to be planted at home.
Patients coming to the cancer center for appointments that day may pick up the same give-away items when they come into the facility.
Survivors will also have an opportunity to write a number on a die-cut ribbon to indicate the number of years of their survivorship. Staff will then place those ribbons in a window at the cancer center as a representation of the total number of years of survivorship.

National Cancer Survivors Day is held annually in hundreds of communities throughout the world in early June. It is a symbolic event to demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.
